3 pounds lean ground beef
1 pound ground pork
3 medium onions minced
1 green pepper minced
3 cloves garlic
l large can peeled tomatoes
3 small cans tomato sauce
1 can tomato paste
1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
1 teaspoons thyme
1 tablespoon sugar
2 cans mushrooms (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
For each can of tomato sauce and paste, add equal parts water |
1. Brown meat in large frying pan.
While meat is browning, add onions, green pepper and garlic.
2. In a large pot add all the other ingredients.
3. Drain fat from hamburger mixture and add to sauce. Cover and let simmer
over low flame for approximately l hour.
4. Remove cover and simmer for another 1/2 hour or 45 minutes.
5. When serving, garnish with Parmeson Cheese.
About 4 ribs of celery hearts adds a lot to this. |
